Set conduct rules for everyone, including adults. Cover harassment, violence, unsafe behaviour, privacy, alcohol where relevant, noise, and access to restricted spaces.
Staff should not act as family therapists or judges of ordinary parenting differences. They should enforce camp rules, protect immediate safety, and follow reporting duties when concerns arise.
Respond privately where possible. Do not argue with a caregiver in front of a group unless immediate safety requires intervention. Keep factual records and involve the appropriate lead.
If a household must leave under the reviewed terms, plan a safe departure. Consider transport, children, belongings, and any ongoing emergency or protection duty. Do not simply send a distressed family onto the road at night.
Have a route for complaints about the camp leader. A welcoming atmosphere should not depend on staying silent about problems.
For alcohol, define where it is permitted, who must remain responsible for children, and what staff do if a caregiver cannot safely fulfil that role. Check local law and insurance.
Your task: Prepare a response to an impaired caregiver, a room dispute, and a complaint about a popular host.
