Family camps often become confusing because adults and staff both assume the other is watching. Use clear modes in the schedule.
Family-led time: The named adult remains responsible for their child. Staff may host an activity or maintain the site, but they have not accepted childcare custody.
Camp-led childcare: The child is formally checked into an approved program. Camp staff accept the defined care duties until a recorded release to an authorized adult. Local childcare or camp rules still need review even when parents are nearby.
Guided shared activity: A qualified leader manages the activity's technical safety while caregivers have clearly stated support and supervision duties. The split must be explained for the actual activity.
These labels are planning tools, not legal categories that decide your obligations. Get the real arrangement reviewed.
Mark the mode on every activity listing. Say whether adults must stay, may remain elsewhere on site, or may leave under the approved service. Do not let a cheerful phrase like “kids' club” hide the answer.
