Guide
Get your team ready
Help each person know their job before the first day.
We are still checking this guide. It is a draft. How we check our work
The main idea
Practise the real day together. Make sure every job has a person and every question has someone to answer it.
Part 1
Explain each person’s job
Tell the team who the camp is for and what the day will look like. Write down who does each job and who makes choices when plans change.
Give people the details they need for their work. Keep private camper details limited to the people who need them.
Part 2
Walk around the camp
Follow the route a camper will take. Find the meeting spots, rooms, and supplies. Practise moving a group from one activity to the next.
Part 3
Practise a change of plan
Get trained experts to help with health, safety, and emergency plans for your camp. Check that the right training is complete.
- A camper arrives late
- A teacher needs a different room
- A parent asks a question you cannot answer
- Rain changes the afternoon plan
Part 4
Write down what is still missing
Give each open question a person and a date to answer it. Tell the team where to find the latest plan and phone numbers.
Set a time for the team to talk again before camp opens.
