Outdoor Adventure Camp Water, Food and Field Hygiene

Plan suitable drinking water, food, toilets and hygiene for the exact setting. Confirm supply and backup arrangements with qualified guidance. Explain what campers carry and what staff provide so basic needs are not left to chance on the route.

Plan where safe drinking water comes from, how it is carried, and what happens if a source is unavailable. Do not assume clear-looking natural water is safe. Use approved methods and qualified guidance for the actual setting.

Choose food that fits storage, transport, preparation, allergies, and the trip length. A remote meal plan is different from lunch near a staffed kitchen.

Do not make food or water access a reward for completing a challenge. Staff should notice when someone is struggling to eat, drink, or manage equipment and follow the care plan.

Explain toilets before the trip. Include available facilities, privacy, hand hygiene, supplies, and approved waste procedures. Do not let embarrassment make a participant avoid asking for help.

For youth groups, plan toileting support and supervision with safeguarding in mind. Adults need clear practical information and privacy too.

Follow local environmental and public-health rules for waste and sanitation. Do not copy a backcountry method from another region without checking whether it is allowed and suitable.

Your task: Walk through a full day of eating, drinking, toileting, and hand hygiene for the actual group.
