Faith and Community Camp Day, Residential and Family Formats
Choose a first camp format your organization can fund and deliver responsibly. Check the different care, site, staffing and operating duties of day, overnight and family programs. A shared community purpose does not make those formats interchangeable.
A faith or community camp can be a day program, a weekend, a residential week, a family camp, or a specialist camp with a community purpose. Choose one clear first format.
Use the Summer & Day guide for daily care systems, the Overnight guide for residential stays, and the Family guide when caregivers attend. Add the relevant activity guide for arts, sport, science, skiing, or outdoor work.
Do not assume a familiar building makes every format easy. A hall used for weekly gatherings may not be suitable for full-day care, cooking, sleeping, or specialist activities.
Decide whether membership is required, whether the camp is open to the wider community, and how any eligibility criteria are applied. Have legal and funding conditions reviewed rather than assuming every restriction or exemption is permitted.
Keep the first session within confirmed staff, site, funds, and support capacity. A small, reliable camp can serve the community better than a large underfunded promise.
