Before camp opens
Use this as a starting list. Your team and venue may need more checks.
- Plan the stay as well as the activities
Choose the ages, length of stay and main activities. Think about whether this is a first night away for your group.
- Check cabins, meals and shared spaces
Check sleeping spaces, toilets, washing areas, access and the route between them.
- Budget for the whole stay
List accommodation, catering, daytime and overnight staff, travel and activity costs.
- Make daytime and overnight roles clear
Check screening, training and supervision rules for your ages, activities and location.
- Help campers and families feel ready
Explain rooms, meals, contact with home, phone rules and arrival and departure times.
- Balance adventure with rest
Keep meal and rest times easy to remember. Put active sessions between them.
