Science and Coding Camp Terms Explained

Booking: A place someone has agreed to buy.

Capacity: The number you can safely and lawfully serve.

Cash flow: When money actually comes in and goes out.

Contribution: The fee left after costs caused by one extra booking.

Deposit: Money paid before the full bill is due.

Fixed cost: A cost that stays the same within the stated plan.

Occupancy: How much of your available space is used.

Reserve: Money kept for a known duty or an unexpected problem.

Roster: A current list of people and their assignments.

Safeguarding: Steps that protect people from abuse, neglect, and unsafe conduct.

Variable cost: A cost that changes when the number of guests changes.

Break-even: The point where the modeled income covers the modeled costs. Break-even does not necessarily repay startup spending or leave the owner a profit.
