How does the example work?
Camp Juniper has 24 fictional codes and three groups of eight. P001 and P002 must stay together; P001 and P003 must stay apart. P001 is locked to Cedar. P010 and P011 have a soft buddy request. Generate with seed 42 to see which wishes fit. The example is illustrative, with capacities chosen for this demonstration.
What happens if not everyone can be assigned?
You get the best proposal found and a separate unassigned list. With 25 participants and 24 places, the tool reports one missing place. It never silently increases capacity, splits a required buddy set, or relaxes a hard rule. A bounded search can stop before finding an arrangement, so a search limit does not mean the plan is impossible.
What is saved, and what appears on group sheets?
Your draft lives in this tab and is cleared when you close or reload it. Download a JSON project to keep and reopen it. Anonymous group sheets contain participant codes and group names, with no underlying IDs, private reasons, bands, or eligibility details. There is no shared link, cloud storage, or authenticated roster mapping here.
Does this confirm staffing or participant safety?
No. You choose capacities and operational eligibility using your own reviewed policies. A Ready label means the entered planning rules pass the checks. It does not confirm staff qualifications, medical suitability, safeguarding requirements, or legal compliance. Ability bands are operator-defined, and self-report stays distinct from reviewed assessment.
How to use this tool

A simple example
An instructor may finish at noon while the bus leaves later. Assign a camp leader to meet the group and stay with them through lunch and departure.
