A LITTLE CLARITY GOES A LONG WAY
Price with purpose.
Plan with confidence.
For camp founders, directors, and nonprofit program managers planning day camps, overnight stays, family programs, and specialist camps.
Make the session specific.
Choose one session or package, its capacity, and a realistic enrollment assumption. Daily and nightly prices convert to the full enrollment.
Count the costs that count.
Separate session costs from costs per camper. Add staffing thresholds, processing fees, and discounts where they apply.
Test the room for change.
Look at the first break-even count and every profitable interval. Compare three scenarios before settling on a price.
ONE FICTIONAL CAMP. THE COMPLETE MATH.
What does a $300 camp price look like?
A CAD 300 session, CAD 6,000 in fixed costs, CAD 100 per camper, and illustrative fees of 3% + CAD 0.30 per payment leave CAD 190.70 per camper toward fixed costs.

The questions behind the numbers.
What is break-even enrollment? The first whole participant count with no operating loss
In a simple budget, divide fixed costs by contribution per participant, then round up. With staffing thresholds, the calculator also checks for later losses and lists all non-loss intervals within capacity. Breaking even above capacity is not operationally feasible.
What is included in operating profit?Entered revenue minus entered operating costs and fees
Earned participant revenue and other revenue are included. Pass-through sales taxes and refundable deposits are not revenue. Capital purchases and costs marked outside the model are reported separately. Taxes on profit, financing, depreciation, refunds, tiered pricing, and household payments are not modeled. Include your own relevant operating costs explicitly.
How does the target price work?A transparent calculation, with all other assumptions held constant
The calculator solves your target at the selected enrollment and rounds the price up to the currency minor unit. A margin is profit divided by net earned revenue, including grants and other entered revenue. It is not markup. A target at zero enrollment or with an invalid denominator cannot be calculated.

A simple example
For a printmaking camp, shared rollers are a setup cost. Paper and ink grow with the number of makers and how many prints each person tries.
Before you use your plan
This is an estimate, not a promise of profit. Discounts, taxes, refunds and empty places can change the result.
